I can take no credit for this shot, but I can take partial credit for the person in this shot. The shot itself is Amy’s. Her camera. Her shutter. The processing is mine. I’m sure she won’t mind that I’m posting it.  |sumsion| posted a photo: An outtake of the photo shoot at White Rock Bay on Antelope Island. I handed this red blanket to Amy and said “Ok. Now spin around.” She did, until she had spun too much. Sorry Amy. All of these outtake shots were taken within about five minutes. There wasn’t much time to mess around with any shots like this. I do too, so we’re even. Large  |sumsion| posted a photo: Those of you who live in Northern Utah are well aware of the crazy wind storms that we had last week. I got caught in one of them just as I was helping to take a load of stuff to the local landfill. I can tell you that the landfill is not the place you want to be when 50-80 mph micro-bursts hit, followed by large, pelting rain drops/shards. Fast-moving garbage just isn’t my thing. Anyway, these winds created some really amazing patterns near the Great Salt Lake water. The ripples were deeply cut and I could tell that tons of mud and sand had been thrown around during the storms. Closer to shore the wind had blown a thin layer of salt over the sand, which had crystallized. As I was walking the mile or so out to the water, through the salt, I kept looking back thinking that somebody was following me. I figured out that my feet were kicking up the salt crystals and they were shattering behind me as I walked. No matter how many times I told myself that this, in fact, what was happening, I still kept looking back. I think I freaked myself out a bit, which probably isn’t too difficult to do when I’m by myself in the middle of nowhere. I survived, and whoever was following me did a great job of hiding. Click here for more White Rock Bay.  dakota.morrison posted a photo: The number of photos I’m shooting each day is mind blowing — exceeded only by the number of unbelievable scenes that remain only in my memory because I do not have a fraction of the skill (patience or equipment) necessary to capture. Lesson from the road #1: * Learn to love the shots that got away more than the ones that you captured. The moments are more beautiful than the photographs and live in yout memory forever. Accept this. And you will shake that feeling of loss you have when you miss a shot. The Great Salt Lake is always an amazing place to visit. It’s always changing. I looked at this post for a while trying to determine why it looked this way.
