I finally had a chance to return to beautiful Sydney… once upon a time, it was my biggest dream to make it to this city. I finally made it in 2007. Who would have thought that one day I’d be getting paid to be there??? I was determined to take photos of the Opera House at night to make up for the ones that I took 2 years ago on a cheap point and shoot. Mother Nature was against me as I stood in the pouring rain and strong wind. I could barely stay standing, let alone my tripod. I toughed it out, because I’d hauled the tripod all the way here, and besides… I love this place! ![]() |sumsion| posted a photo: This is an older shot, but one of my favorites. This was my first time messing with a Lensbaby – which reminds me that I need to mess with it more. It’s been a while. This was taken at the Special Olympics event in Irvine, CA in May. Still one of my favorite outings. * If you’re using the new Flickr, it’s worth clicking on the image to see it large black. ![]() |sumsion| posted a photo: [+big] – Hopefully I won’t need that much longer. I think everyone is on the new Flickr layout and can simply click the pic to see it on black. —– I was told the other day that none of my SPs show my real eye color. I’m trying to remedy that, but my eyes tend to change color a bit between green and grey. I like the green better. I can see more clearly. I need to be able to see more clearly to see who I was meant to be, not what others expect me to be. ![]() fabuchan posted a photo: Tamachi station – 19:55 – The end of the working day… almost. EXPLORE front page + EXPLORE #2 for 14 April 2010 Dear Flickr friends, This is the first photo of my new project about Tokyo Yamanote Line (???). The Yamanote Line (Yamanote-sen) is one of Tokyo’s busiest and most important commuter rail lines. With 29 stations, it runs as a loop line and connects most of Tokyo’s major stations and urban centres. According to wikipedia , an estimated 3.5 million passengers ride every day on Tokyo’s Yamanote Line, more than the number of passengers per day carried by the whole of the London underground (12 lines, 275 stations). This project will be organised in the form of “a day on the Yamanote Line”, starting from the first train in the early morning and finishing with the last train (even though I will not upload the photos on Flickr in this order). I started this project because I was fascinated by the idea that by being always on the same line and going round and round in the loop, as the day progressed I would have been able to see the whole range of Tokyo life just passing in front of me. Please note that I am still in Tokyo and still working on this project. So if sometimes you see a ???? (strange foreigner) taken pictures on the train or in or around the stations – it may be me… come to say hello or if you want to join me for a Yamanote line ride drop me a line!! ![]() |sumsion| posted a photo: [+] This makes me laugh. It looks like I have some large herb or vegetable growing out of my ear. Or maybe a small animal. Thanks for dropping by. I know my stream has changed drastically over the past month or so. It’s been good for me, and that’s why I’m on Flickr to begin with. I’ve got a trip planned in the near future that will force me to get back to some landscapes. So…they’ll return. But so will I. ![]() |sumsion| posted a photo: [+] In terms of best-things, next to actually meeting people from Flickr, learning from them comes in a close second. As you’ve been painfully aware, I’ve been in self-portrait mode for a bit. It’s really not an easy thing to do, but one of the best learning experiences I’ve had. Add that to being able to hang out with a real photographer for a weekend and things start to click. (No pun intended.) I learned so much about so many things. I’m grateful. trouble ![]() |sumsion| posted a photo: [+] You just have to love Flickr for bringing people together. This, of course, is the world-famous wedding/portrait/everything photographer Tracie Taylor during the Special Olympics event in Irvine, CA. (I stole/borrowed her Lensbaby for this.) I had the privilege of shooting with Tracie and Mike last Saturday. (Yes, I choose only the best to learn from.) I haven’t seen Mike’s shots from the day, but I just have to laugh at my shots in comparison to Tracie’s. You would laugh too, believe me. The event was really fun to be a part of. Every single one of those kids was so excited to be there. What a fun day. ![]() Seattle Miles posted a photo: I have always been drawn to minimalistic b&w scenes. This is my attempt to create one. Its no masterpiece, but its a start. There are so many talented Flickr photogs who pull this off flawlessly. You know who you are, thanks for all your inspiration ![]() Anna Gay posted a photo: I had my cliche shot locked and loaded, ready to go. It was going to be the most awesome John Lennon tribute via post-it note EVER. But, then I realized – I have no post-its. So, I went with age old selective-eye-color-while-hiding-in-turtleneck shot. Gotta love it. If you haven’t already, you really need to join the new group Cliche Saturday where, if your photo is too original, it will be deleted from the group. This group is to celebrate (and sort of make fun of) all of the cliche shots/concepts that make Flickr such an awesome place to make fun of :p ![]() |sumsion| posted a photo: I had planned to take a break from Flickr – starting today. Plans change. Instead, you now get to see my world in a different way. We’ll see how it goes with this new set. You’re not going to see my norm. No sunsets. No landscapes. No wide-angle bleh. No borders. No watermarks. No. You’re just going to get what I need to post. Maybe one per week. Maybe one per minute. Not sure how long this will last. And that’s all. [+] Oh – and viewing large is a requirement |
